Environmental policy
Just Drinking Water Ltd was formed out of a drive to introduce wholesome quality portable water products, in more environmentally aware, more responsible packaging. Our strap-line for Aquapax – our first water brand, is ‘a pure thirst for the environment’ - we take our responsibility towards the environment very seriously indeed.
Our business impact on the environment isn’t just about CO2 emissions. There are a number of other areas in which companies like ours can pro-actively manage our impact on society as well as the environment.
Our policy is to operate our business as an environmentally-conscious and ethically responsible entity which has a ‘net positive’ impact on our planet. We will work with our suppliers to understand, manage and reduce the impact our products have on the environment. We will continue to build active partnerships with our suppliers to develop more sustainable supply chains for the products we sell, as part of our drive to continuously improve our environmental performance.
These far from perfect measures include: -
Ensuring all our wood and paper products used in Aquapax packaging come from proven, well-managed forests (or recycled material). Promoting Aquapax products; energy efficient both in their manufacture and use is ultimately what we’re all about. Cartons are the only one way package type classed as environmentally advantageous in a recent German Life Cycle Analysis report on comparative packaging types.
We will minimise the amount of packaging associated with our products and, where packaging is unavoidable, we will assiduously apply ourselves to reducing the impact of its use and ensure our suppliers live up to our independent measure of being Fair Traders.
We will use energy-efficient light-bulbs wherever possible; to reduce our electricity usage and carbon output and manage our contribution to climate change, reducing the energy we use to run our business and transport fleet. We will keep our focus on reducing the net transport impacts of our operations and other activities.
Reducing the amount of waste generated by our management and other business activities makes economic sense, while optimising the amount of products that are re-used or recycled is our stated policy.
We want our customers to know and be confident that the environmental and social issues associated with the products they buy from us are properly managed. In so doing we will ensure that the products we sell do not adversely affect the health of our customers, staff or that of our environment.
